Asheville, North Carolina, became the epicenter of the glass art world last week as Banjo hosted The Heady Seminar with Karma, a gathering that brought together glass artists and enthusiasts from all over the country. MVV’s glass frit portrait of Bob Marley was a breathtaking display of her skill in using frit, a type of crushed glass, to create intricate designs and lifelike images. JMass’s sherlocks, with their elegant curves and delicate details, were a testament to his years of experience and dedication to the craft.

The combined skills of all the glass wizards provided attendees with a rare opportunity to witness the true artistry and passion behind glassblowing, and to learn from some of the most talented and innovative artists in the community.

In addition, Dr. Mike Lee, the renowned Glass Therapist, led attendees through energizing stretches to keep them focused and ready to learn. The rock paper scissors competition also brought out some fierce competition, with some attendees even strategizing beforehand to increase their chances of winning. Musical chairs brought out the inner child in everyone, as they scrambled to find a seat when the music stopped. And the meowing contest, in particular, was a hit among attendees, with participants showcasing their best cat impressions to the delight of the crowd.

The event was nothing short of a paradise for glassblowers and enthusiasts alike, with a lineup of sponsors that left everyone spoilt for choice. From Alchemy Jars to Mood Mats, Swollen Heads Hash to Mountain Glass, DabRite to His Glassworks, the event was an oasis of creativity and innovation thanks to the generous support of these companies. Attendees were also treated to a feast for the senses, with the were the soulful melodies of J Mass and Banjo’s spontaneous jam sessions, bountiful local food served up daily by Karma’s talented wife Mary, and a terpy taste of “solventless goodness” from Swollen Heads Hash that left everyone unforgettable memories.

As The Heady Seminar drew to a close, attendees reflected on the friendships they had made, the knowledge they had gained, and the sense of community that had been forged over the course of five intense days.
